Hello and welcome to the small humble project of wondrous magic and sparkly things that is the Macross Frontier Karaoke Challenge super NYAN NYAN SERVICE MEDLEY SPECIAL PROJECT OF HOPE AND WONDER!!!! *ahem* anyhoo. Basically we need to sort out who sings what and this starts with lyrics. We need to find the lyrics to the whole medley ^^;;;;;; Now, I'm not sure how we can choose what to sing from the medley. There is more than enough here for everyone to have a part though.

Geez that took a long time to sort out - 12 minutes for the song to check it then adding in lyrics and stuff from animelyrics.com and I still don't know what that line in the end of the 3 2 1 what 'bout my star? is!! Help!!

Anyhoo, how shall we sort this out? Mark out Sheryl and Ranka parts and then pick and choose or something? no idea!! For now, just sign up here in the next couple of days. We'll say by Sunday! Sign up here by Sunday to take parts then we'll start splitting up the medley for people to sing.

as for the unknown lyric, i recognize the second kanji as "Go" from Goku (thank you DBZ!) and i *think* i heard her say "kago wa dou?" (How do i look?/how do you feel?). that's my guess anyway

Okaaaaay. This is pretty complicated to explain, especially the harmonies part... Anyway, here are the lyrics colorcoded:

Now the real problem is in the harmonies, 'cause whenever May'n & Megumi sing together they would alternate - meaning when one sing the main part, the other person sings the harmony. Whenever they sing alone, though, they do their own harmonies. So I guess it should be optional or something if someone wants to do the harmonies?

Anyway, I thought it'd be easier if I number the different songs in the medley, so I guess people could claim one song and for the duets, two people can work on that one song Oh, oh, plus there are (I think) 3 or 4 very short parts in the medley too. So... I don't know? Start claiming or something? :? I don't know what would be more fair...

PS: any volunteers for the mixing? xD

Wow, you know people always claimed Ranka was a main character but Sheryl sure beats her for lines in key places 

I think we should wait will everyone has signed up at the end of the weekend before we stake claims on lines. Think about what you want though, it may be first come first served in the end  I'm not sure how many of us will end up taking part which is why if we wait, we can be sure on numbers and how roughly we need to split it.

Let's not worry about harmonizing just yet, i think that'd make everything simpler. for sections where they alternate, we'll just role play or one person sings it all. there are 14 parts, so i guess it'd be ideal to get about 7 voices (mai, join!).

I'm going to attempt to dissect it a bit (pls help me out):
#1 (Lion)
I think we can cheat a little for #1 - *psst* Naddie, do you still have the files for the Lion duet you did? that'll get #1 done of course, you should choose ANOTHER part to sing after this.

#3 (My BF is a Pilot); #7 (Iteza go go's "Moteke" and "Tondeke")
we should make EVERYONE sing these parts.

#11 & #12 should go together

#13 & #14 should go together


i've got my eye on something too, Pippa. i thought you wanted to be the sacrificial lamb (aka mixer), Naddie?

Hmm, I would split it more like this, going in pairs as Sheryl and Ranka:

1st Lion/Infinity/Watashi no kare:  2 people
Diamond crevasse/Seikan Hikou/What 'bout my star?: 2 people
Iteza gogo 9ji: 1 person does it all
Triangler ~fight on stage/Anata no oto/aimo/
what 'bout my star: 2 people from 1st lion/infinity/watashi no kare
2nd Lion/Ai Oboeteimasu ka: 5 people plus last chorus altogether

I tried to split it more or less equally so each singer would get a chance to showcase themselves. Iteza would feel disjointed with more than one person. Also, the more you split up the medley into tiny pieces with different people the more logistically difficult it becomes to mix. Shall we try to keep it simple? As for the last Lion, everyone gets one stanza before the last chorus altogether. I'm not sure how the timings work out but based on lyrics I thought they seemed equal *ish*

I think having the same two people do a substantial part of the medley would mean that it would become more personal two each person for that bit. And as I've split it above it means we can have up to 7 people (roughly split equally) as Sheryl and Ranka e.g. me as Sheryl, Naddie as Ranka singing Triangler fight on stage. As for backing vocals, I think the people doing the specific parts should handle those or just, at the end, offer them to anyone who wants to do them.

EDIT: although looking at it, the first three teams would get a lot vs. the anata no oto/aimo/what bout my star team...any help anyone?

You're welcome Colorcoding is my hobby or something lol! Well Megumi & May'n's voices are easy to tell apart so that was one factor too ^^

I'm not sure how to split all that either - once we do split it up almost evenly I'll update the lyrics page I do think you're on the right track Pippa. Going by the lyrics, I would split it like this:
#1: Lion/Infinity/My Boyfriend is a Pilot - 2 people
#2: Diamond Crevasse/Seikan Hikou/What 'bout my star - 2 people
#3: Iteza gogo/Triangler (Fight on Stage)/Anata no oto - 2 people, since Iteza is all Sheryl, Anata no oto is all Ranka & Triangler features both :3
#4: Aimo/What 'bout my star/Lion: 2 people
#5: Ai oboeteimasuka/Lion: 5 people each getting their own verse & 1 person singing Ranka's part, and we all sing together at the big finale~ hehe

So that would mean everyone gets their own spotlight in each medley Err. Wait, that would make it 10 people right? Ugh, I don't know D: That's the only way I could think of splitting the medley though.

And noooo I already deleted the Lion duet files, lol! I think, I think hirokibaby might still have it, but we'll see.

Perhaps when we have the final list of parts with timings, we could volunteer to do which part(s) we want to do. When we've got all of the roles filled up, we now start working together in pairs. Then the final mixer's only work is to put the tracks on the karaoke, and make sure that the volume is okay, etc etc.

Pippa, since you started the thread, perhaps you could also take note of the current progress of the project and just edit your first post to let people know where we are already. The format could go like this:

Wow... this place is just bursting with energy! 

You guys can count me in if there's some minor parts you need help with.  I'm really terrible with jap and pronounciation but if they're short or slow... I should be able to pull it off. 
Think of me as a support character.  btw, can someone explain to me what are harmonies?  I mean... I know they're there to support the main voice but is there a rule or something? must be diff note? etc?  I'm not familiar with terms and the technicalities but am willing to learn.

@glowie: Err, well it's kinda hard to explain harmonies... Lol. Basically it's the backup vocals sung on different notes than the main one that sort of supports the main one I guess. Usually you've to listen to the original recording & pick out the harmonies - or at least that's what I do
