This should be interesting for European people, especially from France:

Akino Arai, 10 and 11 April, Paris (opening act: Yaneka)

KOKIA, June, Paris, Poznan, Brussels, Köln, Dublin:

Akino Arai: I'm going on 10 april. I couldn't go last time she came, in 2006, since I was still living in Reunion Island (5000km far from France metropolitan...), so this time, I won't miss her!
The founder of akino.arai.free.fr, Van, is the lucky man of the moment: he'll spend 3 days following Akino Arai because he runs the only french website about her Tongue Yeah, lucky, lucky...

Kokia: maybe I'll go. A friend of mine wants to go, but going to a concert alone... So maybe I'll go with her.

And so, the show was really nice! About 200-250 people in a 350 places hall (small, but bigger isn't necessary when it comes to that kind of artist). The sound was good.
And... there was Hisaaki Hogari!!! The Japanese people who were there knew him, but the French fans of Akino didn't seem to know him...

She sang some old songs like Hiru no Tsuki, Tsuki no Ie, Reve, Utsukushii Hoshi or even Nijiiro no Wakusei and... VOICES and Wanna be an Angel! Woohoo! But at the end of VOICES, just before "mittsume no kotoba wa hmm", she paused (like in the album version, the usual, the one that EVERYBODY KNOWS)... PEOPLE APPLAUSED!!! WHY?? Akino was a bit confused, like she was thinking "eh? they don't know the song doesn't stop there?"... I was recording it (see the videos in my live report on my CyBlog, the blog from CyBird)...

Anyway, it was a good show, intimist. She really has a great voice, I really like its softness.

I've been at the Saturday's concert and it was great! The sound was much better than in La Cigale in 2006. LOVED LOVED Wannabe An Angel, thank you so much for recording! The was no applause in the middle of Voices this time Smiley For the encore she did a bit of "Oh Champs Elysée" with the band and the audience loved it and sang along! Then she sang Utsukushii Hoshi alone (like in 2006). Apparently she liked the reception so much that she did an impromptu signing session after the concert. When I was getting my photobook signed I asked her to come again and she said she will \o/.
I think should have tried asking for Wannabe An Angel lyric sheet but oh well.

Has she talked in French too? She's got a good accent for a Japanese :p And what a lovely voice (when she talks), so sweet!

Yes, she made some comments in French, though mostly she spoke English and Japanese. At one point she said "Je ne parle pas Francais.... je chante." Smiley

More? Hmm... When she was going to start a new song, she sat in front of the piano, laid her hands on it, ready to play, and suddenly, she looked at us and stood up : "Ah! I forgot! Let's talk a bit!" (what's in italic was in japanese). Everybody laughed! She really had forgotten Tongue Then she thanked (in japanese) the Japanese people who were there (just behind me and my friend, they were waving their arms lol). I don't remember everything she said, but after, she talked (in english) about how happy she was to be there, etc.

She talked about Hisaaki Hogari and his work with her (he was hidden behind his fringe and glasses, smiling lol). I thought she would have talked about Yoko Kanno (I'd have loved to :p), since she talked about Hisaaki Hogari's work, but no.

There was video clips for evey songs, projected on a little screen by a projector (you can see the screen behind Akino Arai on my videos) they put on a camp chair almost in the middle of the stage lol

... And there were more guys than girls! It was funny Wink

I ask for more details, then promptly disappear again, of course... Wink

Yay, more~ Thanks Smiley I really wish I had been able to go but I'm glad some people are sharing their experiences online. Re: Arai-san talking about Hogari but not Kanno, when you think about it she and Kanno haven't worked together in ages. It's unfortunate for we Kanno-fans but I think it makes sense.

BTW - I've linked to your blog post and Youtube videos from the Arai Akino Message Baord as well. Hope you don't mind Smiley
